BARBARA. exhibitions organized by painter Jan willem van welzenis. It offers space for both emerging, mid-career, and established artists. We focus on Dutch and international modern and contemporary abstract art, with a particular focus on geometrical abstraction and abstract expressionism.

BARBARA-artspace is a small artist-run space in a home.

The gallery, a 1759 canal house, is located right next to the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk in Dordrecht. The BARN, hallway, FIRST FLOOR back room, and balcony are used as exhibition spaces.

This private residence, ORIGINALLY characterized by a RENAISSANCE style, that eventually moved to Louis XIV, is listed in the national heritage for historical monuments and was restored from 2018 to 2021. In 2021, this house was nominated for the Dordtse Puien Prijs, a prize awarded to responsibly carried out restorations.

barbara-artspace opened March 1 2025 with the exhibition klaarlicht.

Since 2012 Welzenis organizes exhibitions. Welzenis is co-founder of the artist collective Abstracte.
